Professional Mold Remediation and Removal Services by The Mack Group, LLC

Nationwide Mold Remediation Removal Contractor Services

The MACK Group, LLC provides mold remediation and cleanup contracting services within the Continental United States with particular emphasis in New Jersey (NJ), New york (NY), Pennsylvania (PA), Ohio (OH), Delaware (DE), Maryland (MD), Massachusetts (MA), Connecticut (CT), West Virginia (WV), Indiana (IN) and Illinois (IL)

Mold Remediation Basics

  • The purpose of mold remediation is to remove the mold to prevent human exposure and damage to building materials and furnishings.
  • It is necessary to clean up mold contamination, not just to kill the mold.
  • Dead mold is still allergenic, and some dead molds are potentially toxic.

Mold Remediation Means and Methods

A variety of mold cleanup methods are available for remediating damage to building materials and furnishings caused by moisture control problems and mold growth.  This may include:

  • Wet Vacuum
  • Damp Wipe
  • HEPA Vacuum
  • Interior Demolition - Building materials and furnishings that are contaminated with mold growth and are not salvageable should be double-bagged using 6-mil polyethylene sheeting. These materials can then usually be discarded as ordinary construction waste. It is important to package mold-contaminated materials in sealed bags before removal from the containment area to minimize the dispersion of mold spores throughout the building. Large items that have heavy mold growth should be covered with polyethylene sheeting and sealed with duct tape before they are removed from the containment area.

The MACK Group, LLC selects remediation personnel who have the experience and training needed to implement the remediation plan and use Personal Protection Equipment and containment as appropriate.

Asbestos and Asbestos Materials Facts and Information

Asbestos Facts

  • Asbestos is a family of naturally occurring minerals, found in serpentinite and other metamorphic rock.
  • Because of its strength and resistance to heat, asbestos was used for insulation, heat resistant clothing, roofing and fire proofing. It was also used as an additive to ease the manufacture and application of ceiling and wall finishes, tape joint compounds, floor tiles and mastics.
  • Since many building materials can contain asbestos, remodel and repair activity in residential and commercial structures which disturbs asbestos-containing materials may cause the release of asbestos fibers into the air. There is no known health threat if asbestos-containing materials are in generally good condition and are left undisturbed.
  • Inhaling airborne asbestos fibers can increase the risk of developing certain lung diseases, including lung cancer, mesothelioma and asbestosis.
  • In the United States there are many regulations protecting children, employees, tenants, workers and others from exposure to asbestos. These include AHERA (schools), OHSA (workers), ASHARA (public buildings) and NESHAPS (emissions).

Interior Demolition and Decontamination Project Completed by The MACK Group, LLC

The MACK Group, LLC Completes Interior Demolition and Decontamination Project

The MACK Group, LLC, a premier asbestos abatement, decontamination and flooring removal contractor recently completed the decontamination, demolition and removal of 2 dryers from an active Fortune 500 pharmaceutical facility.

The Mack Group, LLC utilized a crew of five trained and safety conscientious technicians to first setup a dust barrier system.  The dust barrier system, which consisted on polyethylene sheeting and negative air machines and ductwork, was necessary to prevent the migration of contaminated dusts from the work area into the active clean areas of the facility.

Once the dust controls were in place, decontamination of the dryer units was commenced.  The chemical powders and dusts that were still in and on the units were vacuumed from the units and properly containerized.  The containers of collected chemical materials were then handed over to the client for proper disposal and recycling.

Once the equipment was decontaminated, both units were then demolished and removed from the facility.  Due to door way and access routes the equipment had to be processed into small pieces to facilitate removal from the facility.  The demolished equipment pieces were then sent offsite for scrap metal recycling.
    & nbsp;   &n bsp;   &nb sp;
The project was completed in approximately one week without incident or injury.

The MACK Group, LLC Completes Asbestos Mastic Flooring Removal Project

The MACK Group, LLC, a premier asbestos abatement and flooring removal contractor, recently completed a project that consisted of the abatement of asbestos mastic on a concrete floor.  The project was performed for a national environmental general contractor at a large private college in Connecticut.

The MACK Group, LLC (MACK) was contracted to abate asbestos mastic that was adhered to a concrete floor without damaging concrete.  The estimated quantity of asbestos containing mastic that needed to be abated was approximately 30,000 square feet.

To remove the asbestos mastic, MACK used a combination of proprietary flooring removal machines that they own in their fleet of abatement equipment.  These machines allowed MACK to easily remove the mastic down to the original concrete floor surface without damaging the existing concrete.

The MACK Group, LLC Completes Large Asbestos Removal Project

The MACK Group, LLC completed a large asbestos abatement removal project at the former GAF Plant located in South Bound Brook, New Jersey.

The asbestos removal project consisted of asbestos abatement of 300,000 sf of asbestos transite roof & siding panels, 100,000 sf of asbestos built-up roofing, 11,000 ft of asbestos piping, 15,000 sf of asbestos tile & mastic, three 5 story high industrial asbestos boilers and the removal of several hundred tons of asbestos contaminated soil.

Prior to asbestos abatement activities, a 10 day notification was submitted which is a written notification of intention to demolish in accordance with 40 CFR 61.145 to 61.155 and N.J.A.C. 7:26-2.12(d) and (e). Proper asbestos wetting, removal and handling techniques were employed to safely remove the materials. The Mack Group, LLC used various techniques to remove the asbestos materials including wetting of all friable ACM and bagging the ACM using poly-wrapping.  Also utilized was the wetting and direct placement in lined (at least 6 mil thick liner) and sealed bulk containers. The transportation of asbestos and ACM was in accordance with N.J.A.C. 7:26-3.5(d) and by registered New Jersey solid waste vehicles.  ACM was then properly disposed at a licensed landfill.

Because the former plant had been vacant for a long period of time all utilities were disconnected.  The MACK Group, LLC. utilized there large onsite generators to supply all power for the 60 HEPA negative air filtration units used inside work area containments.  The MACK Group, LLC. also utilized a Terminator floor scraping machine, bobcats, aerial lifts, chutes and twenty of there NJ licensed asbestos workers to bring in the project in ahead of schedule and without injury.

Following asbestos abatement activities, the buildings were then demolished.
